Websites for welding and fabrication: requests with material, dimensions and drawings
A stair railing, a steel structure and a trailer repair are not estimated the same way. Your site must collect the material, dimensions, photos or drawings and the part's purpose from the first contact. ALKAN builds that site — the welding is yours.
01
What your request should collect
- Project type: railings, structures, gates, stairs, repairs, custom parts
- Material: steel, aluminum, stainless — and if the customer does not know, the flow guides them
- Approximate dimensions and number of pieces
- Photos of the installation site or plans/drawings if they have them
- Purpose of the part: residential, commercial, decorative or structural
02
Photos and drawings from the customer's phone
The customer uploads photos of where the part goes or the plans they were given. You receive everything together — without chasing files across messages — and decide whether you can estimate from that or need a visit.
03
Your metal portfolio, well presented
- Gallery of real work by category: railings, structural, ornamental, repairs
- Processes you master (MIG, TIG, stick) and materials you work
- Shop work and on-site work, if you offer both
- Real certifications when applicable — only ones you can back up
04
Shop or on-site work, with clear limits
Distinguish parts you receive at the shop from mobile work across the areas of King, Pierce, Snohomish or Kitsap you actually cover. For a custom part, approximate dimensions, quantity and intended use help prepare the conversation. Do not turn the customer's selection into a structural approval or publish certifications you cannot back up.
Organize fabrication requests — Collect context for professional review, not an automatic calculation.

See the FORGE demo
FORGE is a functional demonstration we built for welding and fabrication: it shows what a guided project analysis with photos and specifications looks like. It is a demo, not a paying client — open it and try it.

Straight answers.
What if the customer does not know the dimensions or the structural use?
Allow them to say they do not know and ask for guidance. Initial measurements are approximate; the fabricator verifies specifications and decides what professional documentation is needed. A form does not determine loads, compliance or a part's structural fitness. Plans and photos, if included in scope, are information to review, not an approval.
Does ALKAN do welding work?
No. We build the website and the request system for your shop. The fabrication and welding are yours.
Can the system read plans or calculate materials?
The system collects and organizes the information — including photos and plans the customer uploads — for you to review. Material calculations and the estimate are yours, made with professional judgment.
I do residential and commercial work — are they separated?
Yes. The flow distinguishes the project type from the start, and you can present your experience in each category separately.
What if the customer does not know which material they need?
The flow guides with simple questions (what it is for, where it goes, indoor or outdoor) and you define the material when you respond. Nothing is decided automatically.
